When Doc Hathaway's cafe opened in November of 2014 (almost a year ago!), family history was the major driving force behind such an adventure. The Hathaway's lived in the Durango area during the early 1900's and were deeply entrenched in the ranching community. Doc Hathaway (Jon's grandfather), at the ripe age of thirteen, built his own oil rig out of scrap metal and parts and fostered the real family dream of one-day owning a restaurant. Decades pass and the new "Doc" of the family, Jon, returned to the Durango area, attended college at Fort Lewis and finally opened the family restaurant.
With Jon's long history in the food industry, Doc Hathaway's is sure to please as there is something on the menu for just about everyone. From the Hatch green chile, waffle fries, Doc's Burger, and Chicken Francisco all of the dishes are made with love and from scratch in the former Skinny's Grill kitchen. Every corner of the restaurant is infused with personal touches from the Hathaway lineage. Openly celebrating his heritage of both Irish and Scottish ancestry, Jon makes sure that everyone feels welcome in the intimate upstairs bar area that overlooks the hustle and bustle of Downtown Durango.
When it comes to good food and a great place to eat, Doc's is sure to delight. We have a full bar with Happy Hour, Ladies Night Specials, Locals Discounts and more.
